I am a marine biologist interested in coastal biodiversity, marine food web interactions, and zooplankton ecology. I'm currently based in Halifax, Canada, and spent the last few years working in a North Atlantic right whale (NARW) project for Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). I focused on characterizing spatial and temporal variability of zooplankton traits (size, lipid content, energy content) related to NARW prey quality. Before that, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Dalhousie University in a project which deals with the production and transfer of fatty acids in marine food webs. This was a collaborative project with DFO's Bedford Institute of Oceanography. My previous research in Helsinki has revolved around the coastal Baltic Sea, and I want to share some aspects of the beauty, diversity and problems of this fascinating brackish water body.  I also aim to post comments on topical research in the world of marine zooplankton.
